| The species described in this Note and dedicated to the late Dr. E. Candèze of Glain near Liege is very interesting necessitating the establishment of a new section in my Synopsis of the species of this genus 1). It belongs to the division I (base of elytra coloured as the apex), A (elytra with four convex flavous spots), b (pronotum finely and evenly punctured, without raised patches), but it has the prosternum neither entirely fulvous (α), nor fulvous in the middle with the lateral portions metallic green (β): in the new species the prosternum is entirely of a dark metallic green colour. |

| Among a small collection of Invertebrates, recently collected by Mr. K. Schädler in the neighbourhood of Kisser, I met with a gephyrean worm, belonging to the genus Aspidosiphon. Though we know already several species of this genus from the Malay Archipelago, thanks the careful investigatons of Dr. Sluiter, during his stay at Batavia 1), the present specimen could not be identified with one of them. | Auf meiner Reise nach der an der Westküste von Celebes gelegenen, in die Strasse von Makassar ausmündenden Palos-Bai machte ich während eines fast dreimonatlichen Aufenthaltes in dem östlich an dieselbe angrenzenden Gelände folgende, gewiss interessante Beobachtung: Obwohl nur einen verhältnissmässig wenig breiten Streifen Landes im Verlaufe der genannten, gar seltsam gestalteten Insel bildend, welcher die Palos-Bai von dem Golf von Tomini, also der Ostküste von Celebes, trennt, steigt das Gelände bis zu mehr als 4000 Fuss Höhe an, hier einen sehr lang gezogenen Gebirgsrücken formirend. | Das hervorragendste Kennzeichen der Arten dieser Gattung bilden zwei unterhalb des Hinterkopfes entspringende, horizontal hervorstehende, blattförmige, fleischige Nackenlappen, deren Form und Grösse am besten durch die beigegebenen Abbildungen veranschaulicht wird, soweit dies nach ausgestopften Exemplaren oder Bälgen möglich ist. | Among a lot of worms, collected in Paramaribo 1), I met with a dozen of small 2?CTiAawn'a-specimens, which cannot be identified with one of the species of this genus, described from America. The number of these species however is not very large. Rosa described a couple of them from Mexico 2) and Paragay 3), and Eisen in a recent paper on Pacific Coast Oligochaeta 4) added four new species from Mexico and California. | The type-specimen of Buffon’s Fossane, Fossa Fossa (Schreber) had been presented in 1761 by Monsieur Poivre to the Cabinet du Roi: it was a stuffed skin, with the jaws and the bones of the legs. The animal measured 17 pouces from the tip of the nose to the origin of the tail, the tail measuring 8½ pouces. In Etienne Geoffroy St. Hilaire’s Catalogue (des Mammifères du Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle de Paris, 1803) on p. 112 there we find under n° CCXLI «l’individu original de la description de Buffon» of the Civetta fossa, la Civette fossane: however Geoffroy adds that this specimen has been given by Sonnerat, meanwhile Buffon’s type (see above) had been presented by Poivre! | Dans les pages précédentes j’ai décrit quelques uns des nombreux échantillons de roche recueillis par M. Martin pendant son voyage de Séran (Céram). Les types suivants en sont les plus intéressants, les granites à cordiérite, les diorites les péridotites, les andésites à augite, les gneiss, les micaschistes et les grauwackes. Les granites contiennent de grands cristaux d’orthose, qui renferment des dihexaèdres de quartz. En outre on y trouve du plagioklase et du biotite. | Der Granit ist nur durch drei Schliffe vertreten, welche sämmtlich von der Nordküste der Insel, nämlich vom Strande bei Waëpote herrühren. Wenn auch die drei Nummern einander ziemlich ähnlich sind, so sind doch wenigstens in den vorliegenden Schliffen und Handstücken einige Unterschiede zu bemerken. Am grosskörnigsten ist die Nummer 793; ein feineres Korn besitzt die Nummer 794, ein noch feineres die Nummer 795. Zumal die letzteren zwei sind arm an farbigen Mineralien. Zur Voruntersuchung wurde an erster Stelle Nr. 793 verwendet, weil die Bestandtheile sich hier bei einer Korngrösse von etwa zwei mm und mehr schon makroskopisch unterscheiden lassen. Bande dieser Sammlungen ist unter dem Titel „Mollusken aus dem Jura von Borneo” eine Fauna beschrieben worden, zu welcher diejenige mehrerer Gesteinsarten in naher Beziehung zu stehen schien, welche neuerdings dem Leidener Museum vom Herrn WING EASTON zugegangen waren. Eine nähere Untersuchung ergab, dass die damals beschriebene und die nunmehr vorliegenden Faunen gemeinsame Arten enthielten, dass jedoch auch neue Arten vorhanden waren, die einer Beschreibung harrten. Ritsema aus dem Rijksmuseum von Leiden eingesandt. Hiezu kommt noch eine von Dr. Hans Brauns und eine von Herrn Rob. Ch. Wroughton aufgefundene Art. Ich statte den Herren Einsendern hiermit meinen Dank ab. Leider liegt nur für eine einzige der hier erwähnten Paussiden die Angabe der Wirthsart vor. | Les travaux des géologues hollandais et de quelques savants anglais nous ont déjà fait connaître un bon nombre de foraminifères fossiles de Java et de Borneo, mais il reste encore à glaner après eux. Je viens de trouver dans une roche calcaire de Borneo que Mons. MARTIN, professeur à Leiden, a bien voulu me communiquer une espèce nouvelle de Lepidocyclina qu’il m’a autorisé à publier. Ces calcaires de couleur grise ou jaunâtre sont pétris de foraminifères, parfois si serrés les uns sur les autres qu’ils constituent presque à eux seuls la roche. Malheureusement elle est si compacte qu’il est impossible de songer à isoler les foraminifères et l’on ne peut avoir recours qu’à des sections. | The specimens of a lot of a Leptopoma, collected by Baron von Rosenberg at Gorontalo, Celebes, have the general appearance of some varieties of L. vitreum Lesson, but their columellar margin is simple. I had compared them with the species of the genus known from Celebes, but I could not identify them with any of these. So I sent a few specimens to Prof. E. von Martens and asked his advice, and this author declared them to be a variety of L. manadense Pfr. (As I had compared them with typical specimens of this species agreeing with the figure in Pfeiffer’s Novitates conchologicae, Vol. IV, pl. 128, fig. 9, I did not come to this identification).
